Hey All,

Yep, it has been a little bit since we put up a new Blog post - we’ve been busy little campers lately prepping everything and receiving stock shipments for the Holiday Season!

LOTS of things have been happening since September - from the whole economy mess to new arrival games, all the way down to some supplier changes these past several months.

Ah Yes…the Economy
Well as most of everyone knows, things down in the US are just generally strange in terms of their economy. Obviously what happens in the US can ripple and be felt here in Canada as well and we’ve seen several signs of strangeness - some companies being selective on what they’re printing, general price increases, changes in strategies and some even going out of business.

So what’s the good news?
Games are usually a safe bet when it comes to gifts or just general purchases during rough times. Even if someone spends upwards to say $60 on a boardgame, you have a game that you, your friends or family can enjoy for years ~ compare that to going to say a movie - at $12.50/person here in Calgary, factor in a couple people, babysitters, drinks & munchies…you’ve probably ended up spending a lot more AND only received about 2 hours of movie enjoyment.

So what’s the bad news?
Canadian Dollar I’m afraid has been in turmoil since at least October (middle of October being the hardest) as some of you well know. As most of you know, we’re always striving to be the best price available here in Calgary (pricing of course online matching what we do in store). At one point (and this was a nice, happy time) there was no guess work when it came to figuring out pricing - everything at US dollar was easy.

SINCE the fall though this has changed, and we’ve had to change our pricing strategies to follow the market.Right now we’re averaging between 15-20% markup from the US SRP Dollar - as of this afternoon, the CDN Dollar was sitting at 1.2239 compared to the US dollar. So when everything is factored in, everyone is still getting a good deal…

So what’s the Good News about the Bad News?

Well we still have stock on the shelves at the old US SRP pricing for one! Best bet, come in and peak around for a good deal before we need to restock the shelves (and the price then reflects the market).

We still offer the Loyalty Credit system down at the shop - spend $100.00 over time in the store and get $10.00 off anything you’d like. Gamers have found that they get a bit of a savings after 2 or 3 games, which is always a plus.

ANNNDDD if you’re a US customer shopping online, think about the power of your dollar - it’s the equivalent (this afternoon at least) of saving 22% off of the pricing you see on our site!
Anyways, enough on the good old economy… out of everyone’s hands anyways so lets get back to gaming!

I’ll post updates re: new games and happenings in the gaming market here when I have more of a chance bit later this week.

Have a great one!

Hi All,

Many of you have been dying to expand (and get into) the Killer Bunnies card games; however, for about 2-3 months now most of the boosters (and even the basic starter) were out of print.

Well Good News!

The folks at Playroom Entertainment are FINALLY getting the Killer Bunnies games back into print and circulation. We’re hoping to see restocks on KB Blue Starters as well as Red, Violet, Orange and Green Boosters hopefully within the next couple weeks from now!

For anyone who’s placed a backorder with us these past few months, we’ll give you a shout when they land on our doorstep.

For anyone who hasn’t played this killer (no pun intended) game, we’d highly recommend it when they’re back in stock, as they were the best seller through the last Christmas season!

Aaaaannnd who knows… the new Killer Bunnies Journey to Jupiter might actually make an appearance sometime soon as well!

Perhaps a sign of the times?

Fantasy Flight Games on Friday announcing a wide-spread change of their pricing schemes, pretty much across the board:

As-is things seem to be immediately effected for any New Release and other titles starting up late October; however, we’re already seeing rising shipping fees and costs rising due to the Canadian dollar being off-par now.

As always, we’ll continue to try out best to keep pricing as competitive here in Calgary as we can - either way FFG games are worthy of their price!

Yep, as many of you have been reading on Boardgamegeek.com and many other sources online, Agricola is finally starting to make an appearance here in North America and we’re eagerly awaiting our copies to arrive at our suppliers warehouses!

Here’s a couple good discussion threads on BBG for anyone interested in joining in with the celebrations!

Special thanks to Gavin B. for the heads up and link on that one!

Important to note, that Rev is in the same food chain as everyone else on this - and of course everyone is fighting to get in their copies (customers and retailers) at the same time.

Based on initial reports it appears that wave one is going to be an allocated affair (no real surprise there) ~ aka retailers will get X percentage of their initial orders as there’s not enough copies around to handle the demand. Happily enough we have several on order with more than one supplier so we expect to be able to handle everyone who preordered in a copy (BUT of course we’ll have to wait until this arrives on our doorsteps of course before being 100% sure what’s what).

Initially that Zev (the main man-o at Z-Man Games) is going to blow through wave one of stock, and a larger wave two looks to be on the horizon for October of this year for anyone who might miss out on nabbing a copy off of the shelves.

Pandemic Fans? Well found this tid-bit out this morning from one of our suppliers - looks like Z-Man Games is searching for a new printer so this is going to be in hiatus for a while (factoring in overseas printing then shipping across the beautiful ocean, sitting on a loading dock, etc. etc.). Will be nabbing plenty when these get back into stock; however, it won’t be anytime soon I’m afraid.

Great game though if you can nab a copy on Ebay or something!
